Directors

Andrew Rogers is the joint director. Andrew was experienced in the Army Medical Corps working on a variety of wards including, Oncology, Medical, Orthopaedics and Surgical. He then became a police officer serving for more than 27 years, concluding his work as a safeguarding detective in a multidisciplinary team where his involvement was tantamount to the safeguarding processes and protecting clients. During his career with the police he was also a Family Liaison Co-ordinator supporting the team of (Family Liaison officers) dealing with serious crimes and looking after victims of crime. Andrew is currently part of the ‘Care Ambassador’ work to improve care standards. He is also signed up to the ‘Dementia Alliance Group’.

The qualities of selfless commitment, integrity and respect for others that the British Army and the Police Force develops in its leaders are precisely the qualities needed for his role in this role at Totally Living Care.

Andrew’s philosophy is to provide superior care by carers who are passionate about their work and pride themselves on delivering an excellent service, thereby promoting the well-being of their clients.

Barbara Highman has been a director at Totally Living Care Ltd since August 2015. Barbara has a wealth of experience and knowledge of looking after customers in their own homes for over 30 years. She was recently the manager for a local domiciliary care agency looking after over 100 customers. She is a recognized ‘Care Ambassador’ who sits on a panel ensuring that all agencies look at ‘Best Practice’ for is customers. She is also a dementia champion. Barbara is a trainer and assessor; it is anticipated this will take Totally Living Care to another level in its care for its customers. Barbara has the same ethos as Andrew and they work together promoting ‘the best care available at an affordable price’

Office manager

Karen Bentley has been a carer for many years and now has the responsibility of being the office manager.

Care Co-ordinators

Totally Living Care has 2 co-ordinators, one for care and the other for training:

Christine Foakes has been a carer for many years and now has the responsibility of ensuring that care co-ordination is updated daily and carers have their rotas set for the week and care planning for customers is carried out.

Annemarie Christopher is a Training Co-ordinator/assessor who has a wealth of care experience and is currently a trainer, she is responsible for the carers Continued Develop Programs ‘CPD’ ensuring that Totally Living Care has the best developed carers available for its customers.

Senior carers

Totally Living Care has senior carers Jemma Ellicot (Senior mentor), Katie Legg (senior), they have a vast amount of care experience and spend their days assessing new customers, reviewing care plans and carrying out ‘supervisory’ checks on their carers, ensuring that the highest level of care is being given to our customers.

Our carers

We have over 60 carers, they choose this career because the want to make a difference to the lives of our customers. It takes a special person to be able to have this type of vocation.

Totally Living Care provides continuous professional development to the carers to enable them to fulfil their personal vocation, as well as improving the lives for those they care for. Totally Living Care has links with the local hospital to allow qualified staff to take the next step to becoming a ‘nurse’ with the Bournemouth University.

Recruitment

To ensure that the people we employ meet our high standards, we have a rigorous selection process. Before carers can become employed with Totally Living Care and begin caring for clients, every one of them must go through:

  • Reference checks
  • Background clearance
  • Personal interviews
  • Competency testing

We also ask ourselves simple questions – would I trust the carer to look after my own mother in her home? we only recruit if the answer is a definite ‘yes’.

Once a carer meets our strict selection criteria, it’s just the beginning. First, all Totally Living Care carers are insured and vetted. Then, each carer goes through a comprehensive training and orientation process that guides them through our values and standards; going above and beyond the national legal requirements for carer induction training.

Personal Development Programme

We employ a reputable Training company to deal with the carers Personal Development Programme this provides them with all the support they need to carry out a job that can be very emotionally/physically challenging. As well as regular supervision and office support, it identifies both ongoing and specialised training needs, to ensure that our carers understand the high standards of care expected by Totally Living Care.
